Le Corbusier
Le Corbusier began experimenting with furniture design in 1928. He defined human-limb objects as: "Extensions of our limbs and adapted to human functions that are. Type-needs, type-functions, therefore type-objects and type-furniture. The human-limb object is a docile servant. A good servant is discreet and self-effacing in order to leave his master free. Certainly, works of art are tools, beautiful tools. And long live the good taste manifested by choice, subtlety, proportion and harmony".
Le Corbusier is without doubt the most influential, most admired, and most maligned architect of the twentieth century. Through his writing and his buildings, he is the main player in the Modernist story, his visions of homes and cities as innovative as they are influential. Some key points about our Le Corbusier inspired products: 1. FULL LEATHER: Many low cost imports flooding into the market from China are using leather match (pvc vinyl) on the sides and backs. Ours are made with FULL ITALIAN LEATHER. We are unique in the business in that we offer many choices in leather because we specialize in leather furniture. Many of our competitors are office furniture factories now jumping on board. They rarely use Italian leathers, but instead use low quality split leathers, pig leathers, etc. Typically, they only offer black color due to their inability to control quality. Leather swatches are available from us. 2. SOUTH KOREAN STAINLESS STEEL: We use no.304 stainless steel from South Korea. Our competitors use Chinese-made no. 304 or no. 202, which may corrode or rust over time. Also, the competitor's Chinese-made steel is inconsistent and cannot be polished to the same high luster as ours. 3. HIGH DENSITY FOAM: We use premium 2.0 lbs. high density fire-rated foam. This ensures a longer life over our competitors' products. 4. CUSHIONS: Cushions sit squarely on the frame. Many of our competitors will not align properly due to poor technique. Our seat cushions are boxed in a wood frame with inner Pirelli webbing and zig-zag spring system. You will have a hard time finding a more comfortable, long lasting or superior seating system than ours. 5. FRAME DESIGN: Our products look good from all angles. We have middle support legs on our loveseats and sofas, too. Our competitors' products may look similar from the front, but the back and sides will have missing or badly bent legs and cross bars. Le Corbusier's original design lines are destroyed by these factories and sellers. Watch out for the 26" deep frames, as they do not give the proper seat support as Le Corbusier originally intended. The original is 29" deep as is ours.
